announce that World beat
music programming has
returned to the
airwaves of Vancouver,
this time with the
power of pictures.
Through
the facility of this
city's newest
over-the-air
television service,
Calcopyrite
Communications is
producing a weekly
global music video
program called ‘WorldBeats’.
Channel M,
launched in the summer
of 2003 with a
schedule of
programming reflective
of Vancouver's diverse
ethnic
communities featuring news,
public affairs,
lifestyles and
entertainment in
more than 20 different
languages.
To complement the station’s
celebration of diversity,
Channel M has retained the
services of Cal Koat and
Calcopyrite Communications
to
produce an insightful, new
approach to the exposure of
Global Music. Unlike the world
music video 'jukebox' programs
previously available to viewers
in Canada, WorldBeats draws on Cal's extensive experience in
presenting this music in
creating a show that is rich in
content and context. The show
also introduces viewers to fresh
new face and broadcasting talent
Vanesa Tomasino. WorldBeats
cuts a wide swath across the
world music spectrum, focusing
on contemporary, cutting-edge
fusions, African, Latin,
South Asian, Middle Eastern, Caribbean,
Nordic, Celtic and Eastern
European to name a few.
